On Saturday, July 18 at Moscow Country Club, Team Russia and Team World played a match for the Strong Figures International Mind Sports Festival.
Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, research cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation, addressed the competitors with the words of welcome.
Diplomats from friendly countries competed at the oldest in Russia professional 18-hole golf course. Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Russian Federation, Myo Moe Aung, Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Russian Federation, Siphandone Oybouabouddy, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation Cheong Loon Lai, and Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation Faisal Niaz Tirmizi competed for Team World.
The tense contest ended in a Russian victory, 12-7. The match followed the single-round, 18-hole format, with 32 athletes on each team.
The Strong Figures International Mind Sports Festival is taking place in Russia for the seventh time. On top of golf, it features curlingolf, tennis, pool, tag rugby, chess, and checkers competitions this year.
